The Origin of 'Safety Production Month'
In April 1980, the State Council approved the establishment of the "Safety Month" system and decided to designate May as the "National Safety Month" starting from that year. Safety activities were carried out nationwide, safety inspections were organized, and nationwide safety propaganda and education were conducted.
On November 26, 1984, the State Council approved the report of the "National Safety Month" leadership group on the activities of this year's Safety Month and future opinions, and agreed to the proposal of establishing a National Safety Production Committee as proposed in the report.
After carrying out the "National Safety Month" activities for five consecutive years, on April 26, 1985, the National Work Safety Committee issued a notice on carrying out safety activities, clarifying that no national "Safety Month" activities would be held in the future. However, each region and department should organize and carry out various and effective forms of safety production publicity and education and mass activities in their respective regions and industries based on their own realities.
The 11 "Safety Production Weeks" activities that began in 1991
In 1991, the National Work Safety Committee decided to hold the "Work Safety Week" activity in a certain week of May every year. This activity continued until 2001 and was carried out 11 times.
Since 2002, the 11 consecutive "Safety Production Week" has been changed to "Safety Production Month", and the time has been changed from May to June each year. At the same time, the "Safety Production Ten Thousand Miles Tour" activity, mainly in the form of news propaganda and public opinion supervision, has been deployed.
